Product Description

When I was little, I always felt that the most anticipated part of Christmas wasn't the candy in my stocking or the beautifully wrapped gifts, but the new Christmas shaker pen that arrived at the stationery store.

These pens were different from the ones we usually used. The body was made of soft rubber, and holding it felt like holding a warm piece of rice cake. The most magical part was the top of the pen—a small, transparent plastic cylinder filled with glitter and liquid. With just a gentle shake, the little world inside would come to life.

My first Christmas shaker pen had a Santa Claus in a red suit with a spiky white beard on top. When I encountered a difficult math problem, I would habitually pick up the pen and shake it, watching the snowflake-like glitter surround Santa Claus. My deskmate Xiaolin's pen was even prettier; it had a Christmas tree inside, with colorful little balls hanging from the lush green branches. She shook it very gently, saying she was afraid of shaking the decorations off the tree.

Back then, we would exchange our shaker pens during breaks, comparing whose little world was more lively. Some classmates collected an entire box full of Santa Claus, Christmas trees, snowmen, reindeer… it was practically a Christmas kingdom! When they got tired of doing homework, they'd look at the sealed Christmas on the pen cap—snowflakes gently falling, Santa's smile always so kind, the baubles on the Christmas tree shimmering.

When we learned about buoyancy in physics class, I suddenly understood the principle behind the shake-up pen. Even knowing it was because the glitter's density was less than the liquid's, it still seemed magical—it could contain a holiday in a tiny, transparent capsule, and when you needed joy, a shake would make snowflakes dance.

Later, we grew up and used more "mature" ballpoint pens and fountain pens. Those soft rubber pens were forgotten at the bottom of the pencil case, only to be rediscovered one day while tidying up old things. I tried shaking that Santa Claus pen; the glitter had clumped a little, and the liquid was slightly yellow, but when the snowflakes gently fell again, covering Santa's red hat, a soft spot in my heart was still touched.

It turns out, what we miss isn't the pen itself, but the version of ourselves that could be happy all day just because of a pen. Today's children have so many fancy toys, yet they can hardly understand the pure joy we felt holding a Christmas shaker pen—as if we held the magic of Christmas in our hands.

A few days ago, I passed by the stationery store near my elementary school and was pleasantly surprised to find that these pens were still being sold. There were even more styles now, besides traditional Christmas elements, there were polar bears and little penguins. I bought two, one for my daughter and one for myself.

My daughter shook the snowman on the pen, her eyes sparkling, and asked, "Daddy, why doesn't the snowman melt?"

I smiled: "Because it's the magic of Christmas."

Just like this Christmas shaker pen, no matter how many years have passed, no matter how the world changes, as long as you shake it gently, it will always bring you an endless snowfall. Those Christmases sealed on the pen's tip are also sealing away our purest joy. And joy never expires—it just waits quietly in our memories, waiting for you to remember it and shake it gently someday.
